The Children’s Language School

Dear families, parents and friends of CSHA,

This Fall, CSHA’s Children’s Language School is moving to a new location: Woodbrook Baptist Church, 25 Stevenson Lane, Baltimore 21212. The day and time, Friday at 6-7:30, will remain the same and we will begin classes on Friday, October 5.

To kick off the school year, please join us for Back to School Family Fun Night. It will be a pot luck dinner and will take place from 6-8 pm at the new home of our Children’s Language School, Woodbrook Baptist Church, 25 Stevenson Lane.  There will be activities for the kids and good company for the adults. Bring a dish to share and bring the family; CSHA will provide non-alcoholic beverages and table ware.

We want to offer weekly as well as every-other week classes in Czech and Slovak for beginners and more advanced speakers. To help cover additional costs we will have to ask for tuition of $155 per semester for weekly classes and $75 per semester for the every-other week classes.

You can use the opportunity to sign up for the fall semester there, talk to the teachers and learn more about the school or just enjoy the night.

You can fill and email us back this registration children CSHA school 18-19 or call Margaret Supik at 410-662-6094.

2017 update :

Happy new year and hurry back to school…. Krásný nový rok a honem zpět do školy.

Fantastic news is that Linda Boursalian, a great teacher is back… she taught the oldest kids few years ago and we are excited to have her continue. For the rest of 2016-2017 school year she will be teaching along with Dana Petran and Margaret Supik, while Olga Mendel is back in Prague for the reminder of this school year. Bring your kids and improve their language skills.

Spring classes are as follows:

  • Czech for foreigners, taught by Margaret Supik
  • Czech 1st grade curriculum, taught by Dana Petran
  • Czech for older students with more established skills combining grades 4 through 7, taught by Linda Boursalian

Czech and Slovak language classes for children aged 3 and up are held from 6 to 7:30 PM in the Undercroft of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, Charles Street and Northern Parkway in Baltimore. The 2016 school year is well under way, but new students are welcome at any time. Call or email Margaret Supik, 410-662-9094, for more information or to register your children.

On Friday, September 9, 2016, at 6PM our school year started. It’s like a family reuniting after summer break, the children are excited to see each other and start working with old and new (for them) teachers.  If you didn’t have time to join us, you can do so anytime. We welcome new students throughout the year and place them in our small classes based on their Czech/Slovak knowledge. At this point we have 3 different skill levels, all in Czech.

  • Czech for foreigners, taught by Margaret Supik
  • Czech 1st grade curriculum, taught by Olga Mendel
  • Czech for older students with more established skills combining grades 4 through 7, taught by Dana Petran

We are eager and ready to start a Slovak class as well; please get in touch with us and sign your Slovak students up.
