We were not able to have our Festival this year, but you can now enjoy the wonderful music many of you love so much.

The Czech and Slovak Heritage Association of Maryland
presents
A Virtual Concert by Pajtáši
Slovak folk acoustic band from New York City performing songs from
Slovakia, Moravia, Silesia, and Bohemia.

We hope you will enjoy the concert Pajtáši recorded for us in November 2020.
Please renew your annual membership or become a new member of the CSHA here, so we can bring you other events like this.

Recorded in November 2020.

Pajtáši: Isabella Valčuha – violin / vocals, Andrea Valčuha – violin / violin contra / vocals, Stefan Valčuha jr. – violin, Maroš Kočerha – cimbalom, Michal Salák – accordion / vocals, Branislav Briňarský – double bass / vocals / fujara / gajdice, Mishunka Salák - vocals.

Pajtáši
Ľudová hudba Pajtáši vznikla na prelome rokov 1998 a 1999 v New Yorku, keď sa tu stretli dvaja byvalí kolegovia zo Slovenskej folklórnej scény, kontráška/huslistka Andrea Levrincová-Valčuha a basista/kapelník Branislav Briňarský. Formáciu v tom čase ešte doplnili Maroš Kočerha na akordeóne/neskôr cimbále a speváčka Mária Lazurová - Dvořák. V súčastnosti kapela ešte spolupracuje s ďalšími muzikantami, predovšetkým s mladou vychádzajúcou primáškou Isabellou Valčuha.

Počas svojho pôsobenia ĽH odohrala veľké množstvo rôznych podujatí -koncertov, svadieb, osláv, plesov, firemných akcií a mnohých ďalších. Zúčastnila sa Slovenských a aj ďalších Slovanských a medzinárodnych festivalov v New Yorku, Massachussets, Connecticut, New Jersey, Ohiou, Michigane, Illionois, Minnesote a Washingtone DC. V roku 2007 vydala svoje CD – Čertovo Remeslo.  Dlhé roky už taktiež spolupracuje s new-yorským folklórnym súborom Limbora, kde okrem tradičnej ľudovej hudby obohacuje vystúpenia aj o hru na tradičné ľudové nástroje.

Repertoár kapely pozostáva z ľudových piesní celého Slovenska, Moravy a Česka, či iných známych melódií vo vlastnom prevedení. Dlhoročné muzikantské skúsenosti a bohatý repertoár kapely sú zárukou kvality a pohody pri počúvaní.

Pajtáši
A Slovak folk acoustic band, founded in New York City in 1998-99, when two former colleagues, folk musicians from Slovakia met at the Slovak street festival in Manhattan.  Andrea Levrinc – Valcuha on a viola-contra/violin and Branislav Brinarsky on a bass/bandleader. At that time, they were also joined by Maros Kocerha on accordion/later on cimbalom and by the vocalist, Maria Lazurova- Dvorak. Nowadays the band works also with other musicians, especially with young “primáš” Isabella Valcuha.

Over the years the Pajtáši Band has played at numerous events: concerts, weddings and parties. The band has also participated at many Slovak and other international festivals, in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, and Washington D.C.  In 2007, Pajtáši released their CD – The Devil’s Craft. Since its inception, the band has been performing with the prominent Slovak-American dance ensemble Limbora in NYC . The authentic sound of their folk instruments and folk music enrich the traditional folk dance performances.

The band’s repertoire covers vast regions of Slovakia, Moravia and the Czech Republic, as well as well-known international songs in their own arrangement. Their musicianship and many years of experience provide the audience with a high-quality performance and a pleasurable listening experience.
